The Xpander Pak Shipper was the original product that perfected the use of fully flexible foam into an easy to use shipping system. The product was based upon technology that compressed fully flexible foam to ¼ inch vacuum-sealed pouches; the pouches are inserted and sealed in a durable shipping pouch.
The result is an integrated shipping pouch the was a cost effective shipping alternative to small corrugated boxes, styrene coolers and shipping envelopes that required additional packaging materials. The compressed foam allowed easy insertion of the product into the pouch and increased the number of products that could be packaged in a day.
Xpander Pak Rx
Xpander Pak Rx was developed for applications that required thermal protection and superior cushioning. Xpander Pak Rx includes the qualities of the Xpander Pak Shipper along with foam walls that are 37% thicker than the Xpander Pak Shipper. Xpander Pak Rx HD The HD (Heavy Duty) Xpander Pak Product line was developed for additional thermal protection.
In other words, the savings that resulted from using XP HD along with 48 hour (2nd Day) shipping paid for the entire cost of packaging, including the Xpander Pak Shipper and frozen gel. The packaging process is simple and fast to use:
1.) Insert the product into the shipper, the insertion process is especially easy to complete because the foam is compressed to ¼ inch on each side.
2.) For temperature sensitive shipping requirements, the product and the gelatin pack (heat or cold source) can be inserted at the same time or separate operations.
3.) Remove the release liner from the permanent and tamper-evident adhesive.
4.) Pull the closure flap over the open end of the package and seal to the shipper.
5.) Puncture the outer layer of film on both sides with a ball point pen, or probe that we can provide; the foam expands 4 to 5 times its compressed thickness surrounding the product and providing a custom package.
The characteristics of the Xpander Pak shipper are unique and provide significantly greater performance benefits when compared to corrugated boxes, expanded polystyrene, air cellular products and other conventional materials. Major pharmaceutical companies have routinely tested the Xpander Pak Shipper with superior performance results in the following categories.
1.) Thermal protection: the Xpander Pak (XP) Shipper insulates temperature products more efficiently than expanded polystyrene (EPS), air cellular products, or polyethylene foams.
2.) Product protection and cushioning; XP Shippers provide greater protection from shock and vibration than other packaging materials. The flexible foam conforms to the package creating a custom package. All parts of the package combine to form an integrated package that is stronger than the components.
Xpander Pak Shippers are four to five times faster than traditional packages that require a box, additional cushioning, thermal protection and tape. The benefits of the Xpander Pak Shipper are summarized below.
1.) Fully flexible urethane foam provides superior cushioning performance when compared to air cellular products (air bubbles), polyethylene foam, expanded polystyrene, or embossed paper. Fully flexible foam is resilient and provides predictable protection throughout the shipping cycle.
